Just like the Mi Mix 2 and 2S, the Vivo Nex S has no notch but still features a bezel-less design. Previously, there have been numerous leaks and rumors about the smartphone along with speculated features and specifications. And since the panel takes up virtually all of the space on the front, the vivo NEX S brings the promised periscope-like camera with an 8MP sensor and f/2.0 aperture. The NEX A comes with a traditional rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
With an alleged screen-to-body ratio of 91.24%, the highest we've see thus far, the VivoNEX is a device with no display notch and merely a thin chin, as well as quite thin bezels on the sides.
The Vivo NEXphones will be available only in China for about $780 and $610. One will be a base model NEX, while the other will be the more powerful, more expensive NEX S. The base Vivo NEX will be powered by the new Snapdragon 710, making it only the second device to bear that honor.
The Nex also packs in 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage (but no microSD support) and a 4,000mAh battery. On the front, both the devices offer 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display with 19.3:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ (2316 × 1080 pixels) resolution.
The Vivo NEX sports a regular camera setup on the back, while the "Elevating Camera" is tucked away on the inside of the phone, and it serves as the device's front-facing shooter as soon as you switch modes inside the camera app. Yes, there's a boatload of AI features inside, ranging from scene recognition that works with the 12 and 5 megapixel main cameras to filters to even a voice assistant.
The VivoNex S is a dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone that runs Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The VIVO NEX will be available in China later this year.
The new flagship series NEX is Vivo's premium line-up and is the ultimate representation of innovation in design, performance, as well as cutting-edge technologies. The primary rear sensor is 12MP with Dual-core pixel, dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX363 sensor, 4-axis OIS, f/1.8 aperture and secondary 5MP camera with f/2.4 aperture for providing depth information. There is also a QualcommSnapdragon 845 chipset with a choice of either an 8GB RAM and 128GB or 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.
The Vivo NEX carries a pricing of 3,898 Yuan (Rs. 41,200). Same is the case with all the sensors as they all are placed underneath the display.
NEX incorporates AI technology that makes the smartphone truly smart. The phone also comes with Vivo's own AI voice assistant called, Jovi, which can be accessed by pressing the dedicated Jovi button. NEX demonstrates Vivo's determination to test the limits and break industry conventions. There's no notch or thick bezel along the top of the phone to house the selfie camera and other technology, such as the earpiece, with the company including three new pieces of tech instead.
