How Meghan Markle dared to break protocol at Queen's birthday parade

  • Here's why Meghan Markle has to stand behind the other royals

The Trooping The Colour celebrations celebrate the Queen's official birthday each June, and it was Meghan's very first time on the infamous balcony. The place is so special that Meghan's engagement ring has a diamond from Botswana, a personal touch from Prince Harry.

The Duchess looked absolutely gorgeous in her bespoke Carolina Herrera dress and matching Philip Treacy hat. For Meghan, Thursday's royal "away-day" will be her first full working day as a member of the royal family and an HRH.

During the visit to the bridge, the royals met architects, planners and community representatives and watched a performance from local schoolchildren before Her Majesty unveiled a plaque to mark the opening. But did you know Princess Diana once wore a dress nearly identical to Meghan's?

Meghan Markle stood a little behind Kate Middleton.

While at the ceremony, Meghan could be seen standing on the balcony with the rest of the family. Such was the case on Saturday when the Duchess of Sussex stepped out for her second official appearance since marrying into the royal family on May 19. "There was no slight intended, but William being the older, more senior brother would go out first with his wife". And Harry's mother Diana, another royal renegade, still always wore a long sleeve for her Trooping the Colours. "It was the last moment that she could reflect sort of the other side to her. the joy and the human within her".

While the Queen carried her trademark black Launer handbag on her arm, Meghan held a clutch bag in her hand. However, some people aren't so keen. Queen Elizabeth II will also be joining this trip and Hello! As she and her new husband drove off to the reception at Frogmore House, she was photographed wearing the baby blue, square Asprey ring - the very same one that belonged to Diana. But-get this-Queen Eliz has also asked Meghan to do something she's apparently never ever asked Kate, Harry and Wills to do: Step aboard for a ride on the royal train.

"She's got a wonderful sister-in-law for this, and of course the Queen, because the Queen is the flawless member of the family to follow". Yes, there is a pecking order.
