  • EA Shows off Battlefield V: Will Bring Battle Royale To WW II

Battlefield V will not contain loot boxes nor will it have a premium pass.

The "Royale" mode in Battlefield V will not be available at launch, but will be released free later in the game's cycle.

It didn't take long into E3 2018 before we got our first Battle Royale announcement, and it was a big one, as Battlefield V developers briefly discussed their new "Royale" mode.

EA's preview of Battlefield V also stressed a faster and more active multiplayer.

The world of competitive online shooting games officially has battle royale fever.

Even in regular multiplayer matches, players will spawn onto the battlefield with only a limited supply of ammo and other gear. It's easy to see how this new gameplay quirk could factor into a Battlefield Royale mode. The game will also have classic modes including Conquest and Grand Operations, which will recreate real historical battles that will play out over multiple maps and modes. There's no word on the number of players EA's twist will support. Don't expect to hide from tanks in buildings, because they can just smash through them now.

Battlefield 5 will have a new Battle Royale mode to rival Call of Duty Black Ops 4's new Blackout mode.
