Rajinikanth Urges Fans To Allow The Release Of Kaala In Karnataka

Despite the uncertainty in Karnataka, Rajinikanth's much-awaited gangster drama Kaala Karikaalan has already earned a massive Rs. 230 crore from theatrical and music rights, reports Hindustan Times.

According to a report in a daily, the film has earned this bulk sum through theatrical and music rights. While the box office collection of Kabali is under dispute, it is estimated to have earned more than Rs 600 crore worldwide.

"I want to tell those who are protesting against the release of the movie that I had asked Karnataka to abide by the Cauvery Management Board, which is a Supreme Court ruling". Stating that it was the government's duty to follow the court orders to provide security to centres screening the film, Kumaraswamy said, "in my personal opinion as a Kannadiga, in such situation where there is opposition, it is ideal if they will not release the movie".

Hours after the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday said that "Kaala" should be allowed to release in Karnataka amid tight security (if needed), Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy opined that the atmosphere is not good for the film to be screened in his State!

Following Rajinikanth's statements on the Cauvery river water row, Kaala might not release in Karnataka. In the film, he says that whichever party forms the government in the state - Karnataka witnessed elections in May - should implement the Supreme Court's order on water sharing with Tamil Nadu. Rajinikanth recently said he is lucky to get equal love from the Telugu viewers.
