The protests were largely peaceful Friday, with government forces hanging back after the previous week, when over 50 people were injured in fierce clashes.

Even as Kaiser succumbed to his injuries on Friday, Mohammad Younis Bhat was wounded and is undergoing treatment at the Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS).

While Bhat's family said he fell as the vehicle hit him, the CRPF spokesperson in Srinagar alleged that a mob charged at one of their vehicles in which one of the officers of the 28th Battalion, Second-in-Command S S Yadav, was travelling.

As per the agreed plan, volunteers from the Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid stood on guard at the entry and exit gates while the authorities did not deploy any policeman and soldier in or around the mosque.

The incident on Friday was the second in less than a month involving a police vehicle killing a protester during the weekly stone-throwing demonstrations in the restive Himalayan valley. He along with his sisters was living with his aunt in Dalgate area of Srinagar for the past four years as both his parents had died.

The troops also damaged sixty-seven (67) residential houses and disgraced six (6) women during the month.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah targeted Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti following the incident. "Ceasefire means no guns so use jeeps?"

"Earlier they tied people to the fronts of jeeps and paraded them around villages to deter protesters".

An Associated Press photographer captured the horror in a series of photographs of the other injured man, who doctors say is still in critical condition. "The police fired tear gas shells on the mourners which left many injured", said Ahmed's 27-year-old cousin Suheem Ashraf.

Two more explosions rocked Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital on Saturday as militants lobbed two grenades at two CRPF vehicles at different places in Srinagar, injuring two more people, police said. When they reached the main chowk they pelted stones on the security force posse. "The worst part is that after mowing down the youth a case for rash driving was registered as if the incident happened by accident", the JRL statement said, referring to the May 5 incident wherein the driver was granted bail last week after police had registered case of rash driving in the incident.
