  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey leaks: is this the sequel to Origins?

Yesterday, it was revealed that the next Assassin's Creed game would be called Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

According to the site (via Google Translate), one insider sent an Assassin's Creed Odyssey keychain in the form of a Spartan head.

A rumor surfaced in March on Comicbook.com indicating that the next Assassin's Creed game will be set in ancient Greece.

We'll have to wait until E3 for the full reveal, presumably at Ubisoft's conference which takes place on Monday, June 11 at 8pm GMT.

Odyssey was first leaked last night via some promotional merchandise that found its way online. Kotaku can confirm this report.

Three unnamed members close to the project, who have played early versions, say the game will bring dialogue options into play. Origins did a lot of things that changed the status quo for Assassin's Creed, including reworked combat and the removal of a minimap. They also claim that players will be able to choose male or female characters.

Assassin's Creed has been the subject of some of the most frequent (and occasionally abstract) leaks of any major video game franchise over the past several years, so we're immediately inclined to believe this is legitimate. It's also worth remembering that Ubisoft has multiple teams working on games, so the extra year that Origins afforded that team, allowed this one to be in development for a year longer as well. Assassin's Creed has always been a fall series, so unless some of those drastic changes include shifting the release window, we can probably expect a release in late 2018.
