Mueller is investigating whether or not Russian Federation helped Trump win the 2016 presidential election, and so far, he has indicted several members of Trump's inner circle.

"When we were contacted by the Special Counsel's office regarding Michael Cohen, we cooperated fully, providing all information requested in November and December of 2017", the company said in a statement.

The New York Times and NBC News said they had reviewed financial documents that corroborated the payments made to Essential Consultants, the DE company set up by Cohen to pay Daniels. Both companies say they had been seeking insight and advice on how to approach the administration on matters related to their businesses.

On Tuesday, a bombshell report released by the lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels said that Cohen, Trump's longtime attorney and confidant, had received a series of suspicious payments from several companies, including AT&T and Novartis.

Cohen's lawyers argued that some of the transactions described in the dossier related to other people with the name Michael Cohen - including a Canadian citizen and a man who resides in Israel. He said they failed "to address, let alone contradict, 99% of the statements in what we released". The raids were carried out by federal agents looking for evidence in a criminal probe.

Avenatti has "deliberately distorted information from the records which appear to be in his possession for the goal of creating a toxic mix of misinformation", the lawyers wrote in a letter addressed to Judge Kimba M. Wood, who is hearing the case in NY.

Driscoll, the former deputy assistant attorney general and chief of staff of the Department of Justice's civil rights division, told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that the Cohen connection with the Russian doesn't prove what Avenatti says it does.

In early 2017, as President Trump was taking office, we hired several consultants to help us understand how the President and his administration might approach a wide range of policy issues important to the company, including regulatory reform at the FCC, corporate tax reform and antitrust enforcement.

But in a memo to employees sent Wednesday, the telecommunications giant says it didn't pay Michael Cohen for legal or lobbying work.

Cohen also denies cashing a check in Palm Beach, Florida, from Singapore-based KCS Outsourcing and denies any knowledge about the company.

An AT&T spokeswoman didn't respond when asked how AT&T learned of Cohen's consulting services or whether it paid Cohen more than $200,000.

Cohen's lawyers say the allegation is "incorrect", citing a Columbus Nova statement that the company is owned by Americans, and that neither the Russian oligarch "nor anyone else, other than Columbus Nova's owners, were involved in the decision to hire Cohen or provided funding for his engagement". "Since then, we have received no additional questions from the Special Counsel's office and consider the matter closed". After meeting with Cohen in March 2017, Novartis determined the firm was not going to be able to provide the type of US healthcare policy information it was seeking.

Novartis said it soon determined that Mr. Cohen could not provide the services he offered. Peter Carr, the special counsel's spokesman, declined to comment.

With the Michael Cohen scandal expanding by the day, the topic was highlighted [VIDEO]with a comedic twist during the May 9 edition of "The Late Show". The financial information was disclosed on Tuesday night by lawyer Michael Avenatti, who represents adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

In the months since the scandal was made public, the White House has denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the allegations as "fake news", but Cohen's offices have since been raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in search of additional information.

"From our point of view we have no reason to be concerned about it or to pursue it any further", he said.
