  • Seahawks still open to adding Kaepernick

Once again, John Schneider and Pete Carroll left observers a little surprised by the Seattle Seahawks' first selection in the National Football League draft.

Penny finished his senior year with 2,248 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 289 carries.

Seattle traded the No. 18 pick and a seventh-round selection to Green Bay to move back nine spots.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reported Thursday that a proposed trade would involve the Cowboys sending their No.50 overall pick to Seattle.

The Seahawks shocked the sports world ladt night by reaching for a running back on day one that some experts had projected as late as the fifth round. That would allow the Seahawks to regain a second-round pick - which it had parted with in the Sheldon Richardson trade.

Wait, what? With glaring needs at cornerback and edge rusher, and Iowa corner Josh Jackson and BC edge man Harold Landry still on the board, the Seahawks drafted a running back?

In the process, Penny seized his opportunity and vaulted himself into a first-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft. He also showed his versatility as a pass catcher out of the backfield, and had two kickoff return touchdowns and another TD on a punt return. The Seahawks had one rushing touchdown by a running back in 2017.

The Seattle Seahawks have struggled to run the ball competently ever since Marshawn Lynch's short-lived retirement after the 2015 season.

Armed with the height, arm length (33 7/8 inches), and speed (4.45 40-yard dash) Seattle covets at the position, Flowers checks off numerous prerequisites necessary to play cornerback for the Seahawks. He's raw in the passing game and will likely have to come off the field on third downs early in his career, but he was a prolific kick returner at the collegiate level.

"I think we've been working at this thing for some time now". They'll need to revamp the offensive line to get the most out of Penny's rookie contract.

"It's unbelievable. It wasn't a ideal story by any means, but I'm really glad the way it worked out", Dissly said of his position change. The former SDSU running back was selected 27th overall after finishing the 2017 season with an 88.4 overall grade.
