APPLE HAS PUSHED OUT an update that fixes touchscreen borkage on iPhone 8 handsets that have undergone third-party screen replacements. From Settings, tap the General tab and Software Update respectively to unlock the update. Apple-certified screen repairs are performed by trusted experts who use genuine parts.

The company is already working on iOS 11.4, with a developer and public beta for users with an Apple developer account. The iOS 11.3.1 update is available for download on all iPhones, iPads and iPods running iOS 11.

This update includes some security improvements as well as a fix for iPhone models experiencing touch input unresponsiveness after getting a display replacement. At the time, some users speculated that the bug was an intentional move by Apple to discourage users from tapping cheaper, third-party repairs.

In the release notes, Apple noted that the bug that affected some iPhone 8 models after being repaired with "non-genuine replacement displays" had been fixed. Later, it was found that the display drivers for third-party iPhone 8 display panels weren't supported by iOS 11.3, which caused the problem.

Apple is reportedly gearing up to introduce three new iPhones in 2018 and one of them will be more popular than the others, according to Kuo.

The iOS 11.3.1 update is nowhere as major a software build as the iOS 11.3 package that was created to enhance the user experience by letting users toggle performance throttling and view battery health. Designated as Security Update 2018-001, the update fixes a memory corruption issue that could provide extra privileges to some applications.

In addition to the iOS 1.3.1 update, Apple has also rolled out a major security update to the macOS 10.13.4.
