Wade Turns Back the Clock as Heat Drop Sixers

  • Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons will lead his team against the Miami Heat in Game 2 on Monday night

Hard work certainly pays off for Dwyane Wade.

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star center Joel Embiid took to social media to voice his frustration at being left on the sidelines for his team's Eastern Conference first round Game Two playoff loss to the Miami Heat on Monday.

But Wade is no dummy. He wants to play in front of the fans. Wade is closer to retirement than he is his prime. "It's not always supposed to be that", Wade told ESPN after the game. The franchise kept him from playing in back-to-back games for most of the first half of the season. For the season, Wade shot just 33.5 per cent on mid-range and 34.4 per cent on fadeaways, so it's likely he regresses to the mean next game. "Taking time to think and looking at every angle and what's the best situation for me to be in".

But he's never put his retirement in such certain terms, suggesting either this year or the next will be the culmination of a surefire Hall of Fame career.

At 36 years old and 12 years removed from his first National Basketball Association championship, Wade put on a vintage performance against the Sixers, going for 28 points, seven rebounds, and three assists while making 11 of 16 shots from the floor, including a game-sealing jumper in the closing minutes of the game to even the series with Philadelphia 1-1 as the two teams head back to Miami. But he was powerless to stop Wade, who scored 28 points off the bench in Miami's 113-103 road win.

"We'll get up and down and do some script stuff", Brown said.
