Liverpool ace Salah wants Champions League more than individual accolades

Salah, in his first season at Anfield, became the first Liverpool player since Ian Rush in 1986-87 to reach the 40-goal mark and only the third from the club to reach that landmark after Rush and 1966 England World Cup victor Roger Hunt.

It's now April, and with Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals and a top four place seemingly wrapped up, Salah has cemented his place among the world's best.

"It means a lot to me".

There were some positives for Bournemouth, who managed to contain Salah fairly well before a header from Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross saw the Egyptian bag his 40th of the season in all competitions.

"He does all the right things, he trains hard, he works hard, he listens to the coaches - that's why, as good as he is playing at the moment, I think maybe there is even one more level in him".

"Each goal for me, or for anyone else, is to try to help the team". "When we lost the ball we were like lions, coming back with counter pressing, that obviously makes life uncomfortable for the other side", said Klopp, whose side have now scored 78 league goals this season. "I'm sure he'll keep doing that for the rest of the season".

And Klopp is hopeful that Liverpool can wrap up qualification before their penultimate league fixture of the season.

But could he topple a goalscoring milestone that many thought might never be touched, Rush's haul in 1983-84? The 22-year-old scored nine goals and dished out 10 assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco, but after playing 25 league games this term, he has only scored twice and assisted seven goals. "But let's see!" he said.

"Of course (the golden boot) is in my mind. So each goal for me, or for anyone else is to try to help the team".

If he does secure the Golden Boot, meanwhile, Salah knows the feat will have been achieved with a significant contribution from his teammates.

"Hopefully it's not too serious, but I can not say more about that now". I will try my best to score again and help the team.

"I am happy to have this feeling".

"We could see how strong he was mentally with the way he handled himself when he didn't play at Chelsea".
