  • Uber Introduces New App for Drivers

The judge asked why Roxana del Toro Lopez, one of two named plaintiffs, is slated to get US$20,000 more than the other woman leading the case. Through the deal, Uber users will be able to pay for transit rides in its app or scan into rail and bus services using their smartphones.

"Having a greater variety of transportation modes at your fingertips helps make it increasingly easy to live without a vehicle", he said.

Reuters provides more: "Uber said in a statement it had entered an agreement to buy JUMP, but an Uber spokeswoman declined to disclose the terms of the deal".

Last month Uber acquired the electric "dockless" bike share service Jump.

Uber Rent Powered by Getaround: Later this month in San Francisco, we're launching Uber Rent powered by Getaround. Uber Bike by Jump, as it is known, is now test in San Francisco allowing users to hire dockless electric bikes directly from the Uber app.

And Uber is now testing rental cars through peer-to-peer car-sharing service Getaround in San Francisco.

"We're going beyond cars".

So Uber is looking for new ways where it can expand and wean people off owning cars.

Uber launched a new app for its drivers on Tuesday that incorporates the use of a real-time earnings tracker, the recent effort by the ride-hailing service for the improvement of its services for the drivers.

Uber is expanding beyond ride-hailing and adding a series of new products to its app to cover all the ways people move around cities, including bikes, paying and booking tickets for buses and rail, and even auto rental through a partnership with Getaround.

The ride-sharing company is reportedly working on integrating the startup into the app in San Francisco.

Capping off a blitz of new features, Uber also announced a partnership with Masabi, a British firm which offers mobile ticketing services for public transport companies.

'That's why we want to provide alternatives to personal vehicle ownership by bringing together multiple modes of transportation right in our app, ' he added.

Getaround's vehicle offerings will appear in a side menu in the Uber app. Users will be able to find and unlock an available auto from their phones using wireless technology. Their e-bikes come with a hook that allows riders to simply secure them to existing bike racks in cities and other things used by cyclists to tie their bikes to.

Uber is becoming more than just an app to hail a ride. There are indications that bike locations will appear on Uber's app.

In his blog post, Khosrowshahi writes that updating Uber's app was a logical next step for the company.
