In lawn bowls, India outplayed South Africa 19-7 in the men's Fours round 1, while the women's team lost 15-23 to Fiji in the Triples opening round.

Nauru have medalled at every Commonwealth Games since their debut appearance in Auckland 28 years ago.

India then won the next two matches. New Zealand (8, 10, 17), South Africa (8, 5, 5) and Canada (7, 17, 13) are on the fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively though they have won more medals.

It is the first time since the racket sport's induction into the Commonwealth Games programme that India has topped both categories.

Georgios Achilleos of Cyprus clinched the gold medal, shooting a Commonwealth Games record total of 57 while the silver went to Ben Llewellin of Wales, with a total of 56.

Malaysia found the equaliser immediately after the start of the second quarter as a fast move down the right saw Faisal beat the Indian defence with an excellent run before receiving a defence splitting pass which found him in a one to one situation with India goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh. Neil Stirton of Scotland took silver with 247.7 while England's Kenneth Parr got the bronze with 226.6. A stunning result which was repeated by the women's team, but this time in the final. Her fellow countrywoman, Heena Sidu joined Bhaker on the podium with a Silver medal.

The Nigerian team had to come from a set down to claim victory and progress to the final where they will face India.
