The first is support for touchless control, which the sources who leaked the project said will let consumers carry out some tasks by performing gestures above the screen without touching it.

According to Bloomberg, these displays will gradually curve inward from top to bottom, where as every iPhone model in the past, with the exception of the iPhone X, have used flat displays.

This news comes after Apple is set to ditch Intel chips in 2020. To note, the current generation of the iPad Pro already has trimmed down bezels on the sides, but the upcoming 2018 model will have the top and bottom bezels further reduced.

Apple's working on some groundbreaking new tech for its future iPhones to help differentiate the series from rivals.

There is no confirmation from Apple regarding the anticipated refresh of the iPad Pro model in 2018, moreso the expected new features following the hardware update. Google's ATAP research group has been working on similar technology through a program known as Project Soli.

Aside from curved screens, Apple is also said to be working on a touchless gesture control technology for its iOS smartphones. Apple's approach will apparently require the gestures to be closer to the screen than the search giant's.

The tech is also different to Apple's existing FaceID camera sensors, which use facial recognition to unlock your iPhone X. This is more or less the same time frame the tipsters provided for the other new technology that they said Apple is developing: a curved screen. The rumour mill suggests a 5.8-inch handset, along with a whopping 6.5-inch handset.
