SpaceX is scheduled to launch a cargo mission Monday to the International Space Station from Cape Canaveral, just three days after successfully launching 10 communications satellites into orbit from Southern California's Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Three days ago, in an effort to cover the Earth in powerful broadband internet, SpaceX blasted off 10 internet-providing satellites on a Falcon 9, a rocket created to transport cargo. It will carry supplies to NASA's International Space Station, located 250 miles above Earth.

In the cargo hold is a UK-built satellite that will test different approaches to removing space junk from the Earth's orbit, as well as an global science package to study powerful lightning from space.

Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Norishige Kanai and NASA's Scott Tingle will use the space station's robotic arm to capture Dragon after its scheduled arrival at the station on Wednesday.

SpaceX CRS-14 is the fourteenth of up to 20 missions to the International Space Station that SpaceX will fly for NASA under the first CRS contract.

According to the London Evening Standard, the rocket is carrying frozen samples of human and bull sperm so scientists on the space station can examine how they react in low gravity.

The capsule is packed with about 5,800 pounds (2,600Kg) of food and science experiments, including one to study thunderstorms and another to test drug development in space.

NASA mimicked atmospheric conditions to grow these tomatoes under LEDs rather than natural sunlight.

The space station is now home to astronauts from the US, Russia and Japan.

"We'd like to understand what is it", said Torsten Neubert, principal investigator for the Atmosphere-Space Interactions Monitor, according to the network.

The Metabolic Tracking investigation could help develop cheaper and more effective pharmaceuticals.

The Canadian Space Agency's study "Bone Marrow Adipose Reaction: Red or White (MARROW)" will look at the effects of microgravity on bone marrow and the blood cells it produces - an effect likened to that of long-term bed rest on Earth.
