Once a year, for one hour, everyone on earth are expected to switch of their electricity and experience life without power, at night. Visit wwf.org.uk/earthhour to find out how you can join in - and don't forget to switch off your lights for an hour at 8.30pm on Saturday 24 March!

A performance by acappella group Just Vocal Band will be held in the main lobby of The Westin Taipei to attract guests to congregate in the area, ensuring the lights are off in their rooms.

What and when is Earth Hour? "Halting its loss is urgent and crucial as much as tackling climate change", said Marco Lambertini, director general of the World Wide Fund for Nature in a statement.

From Samoa to Tahiti, a record 187 countries and territories will take part Saturday in the world's biggest Earth Hour yet.

Apart from taking routine initiatives like switching off the landmark buildings, India has also planned events to make the Earth Hour 2018 more cherishing event.

Earth Hour is an annual campaign that draws the attention of people towards the climate change effects. In 2011, Earth Hour entered the Beyond the Hour stage, when people started getting involved in environmental protection activities on a regular basis.

For the fifth year, choristers will perform a free candlelight concert in celebration of Earth Hour at Christ Church Cathedral in Montreal.

According to the organisers, "Earth Hour shows how each of us can be heroes for our planet".

Primary school students in Lin'an, China, spell out '60+' with candles for Earth Hour 2016Why I should turn my lights off for Earth Hour? Rather, it's a chance to put the spotlight on the issues facing the planet, and to inspire millions across the world to live more sustainably.

Famous landmarks around the world turned off their non-essential lighting, and energy usage dropped notably in several major cities during the specified hour, including Dubai and Christchurch in New Zealand.
