Police officials in Mumbai who investigated the 1993 serial blasts case said Farooq was a big catch for the probe agencies as he was among those who were aware of the serial blasts conspiracy.

TADA Judge asked him about any ill treatment at the hands of CBI, to which the accused replied in negative. "CBI today arrested Mustaq Mohd Miya alias Farooq Takla in the 1993 Bombay bomb blast case". Dawood's nephew Ali Shah Parkar, son of Haseena Parkar, was also in attendance at the party. Earlier in the day, Takla was deported from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates with the help of central investigative agencies and put on a flight to Delhi.

Mohammed Farooq, better known as Farooq Takla, arrived in Delhi from Dubai and was arrested by the CBI when he was at an immigration counter at the Indira Gandhi International Airport this morning.

"Evidence against him (Takla) have been there in the record from the confessions of other accused people".
