Adam Rippon arrived to the 90th Academy Awards red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood in a unique ensemble.

In an event dominated by female fashion, Rippon chose to shake things up in a fetish-inspired tuxedo, which came with a black leather harness and ripped embellishments.

On Saturday, Jeremy Scott, the creative director of Moschino, posted a photo to Instagram of himself with Mr. Rippon and Mirai Nagasu, another American Olympic figure skater who, like Mr. Rippon, competed and won a bronze medal in Pyeongchang. On an evening dominated by womenswear's most glamorous creations, he showed that guys could-and should-shake things up, too.

Adam Rippon's S&M-inspired suit at the Oscars gets a lot of support online on social media.

"I think fashion is all about self expression and I chose to wear what I wore on the red carpet because I felt cool AF".

"Hoe, but make it fashion".

Another called Rippon's style multifunctional, saying the outfit was flawless for 'when you get a Scruff notification at a work function'.

So why did Rippon decide to wear a harness to the 2018 Oscars?
