Bill Gates, the man Dennis Feinstein once famously referred to as "like a super-nerd", is reportedly set to appear on TV's nerdiest sitcom: The Big Bang Theory.

"Apparently, when Penny [played by Kaley Cuoco] hosts Bill Gates at work, the guys do everything in their power to meet him", the network elaborated on its website. The show revolves around a group of scientists and frequently explores technology and geek culture.

The appearance on The Big Bang Theory won't be the first time that Bill Gates plays himself on a sitcom, but it's been quite a while since he first appeared on a comedy.

It's not clear if Gates' appearance will be brief, or a star role throughout the episode, but the show is bound to reference Gates' work at Microsoft or his life after the company as a billionaire philanthropist.

The Big Bang Theory returns with new episodes starting Thursday, March 1 at 8/7c on CBS.

The episode's plot makes sense because the show's main characters are all tech-obsessed and one would obviously expect them to be excited meeting someone such as Gates.

The Big Bang Theory has featured its fair share of big-name guest stars over its eleven years on the air so far, ranging from Star Wars actors to Stephen Hawking himself. According to series star Johnny Galecki, Season 12 will likely be the show's last.
