After the Josh McDaniels fiasco, the Colts have locked in their head coach, Eagles' offensive coordinator Frank Reich. Team officials made the announcement Sunday.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -The Indianapolis Colts have officially named Frank Reich their next head coach. McDaniels backed out of the deal eight hours later.

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich is also a top candidate and seems to be the most likely to be hired. Reich emerged as the leader for the Colts job after McDaniels turned it down after last minute on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Eagles will face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII on February 4th.

Reich has the challenge of coaching quarterback Andrew Luck, who missed the entire 2017 season due to a nagging shoulder injury, back to his form before the injury.

The loss of Reich and DeFilippo would leave the Eagles in need of both an offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. The 56-year-old was with the Colts from 2006 to 2011, first as an intern and then as an offensive assistant. They've reportedly landed on another Super Bowl OC.

As a player, Reich appeared in 118 games, 20 as a starter.

Reich also served as the San Diego Chargers' offensive coordinator for two seasons after initially being hired as the team's quarterbacks coach in 2013. He gained league-wide acclaim in the Buffalo Bills' 1992 wild-card playoff meeting with Houston by directing the greatest comeback in postseason history.

What is interesting about this hire is that three coaches McDaniels picked to be on his staff will remain in their roles, including new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

The Colts thought they were locked into getting Josh McDaniels as their next head coach.
