The short video features Hardy as Eddie Brock on a motorcycle, in a store, in either a hospital or a lab, and running through the woods.

Rumors have been circulating for weeks now that Tom Holland will be appearing in Venom, with the caveat that Peter Parker will be showing up but not Spider-Man.

The lore says that Spider-man got a parasitic creature called symbiote stuck to his body.

First off, I get it. It's easy to forget that Brock was a failed Daily Globe reporter, and that the reason he looks like the Rock is because he took up bodybuilding to quell his depression. While different universes within Marvel have different origins for Venom, it always begins with him coming into contact with the symbiote costume. It seems that we'll have to wait for the next trailer for that particular reveal.

Couch: Consider this an early Venom present. In Venom: The Hunger, we learn the symbiote is sustained by adrenaline, which is released by cancer.

There wasn't a whole lot in today's first trailer, but it was a good start. Take out the title card, and this could quite literally be a trailer for nearly any action movie on the planet. If it didn't have Venom credits at the end, I'm not sure many people would have even known it was a Venom movie. Plus, an agonized Hardy expression.

The first teaser for "Venom" is here with no Venom in sight.

There are also some other interesting tidbits in the trailer. Now it's Hardy's turn to give it a go. Worst-case scenario, we will be getting an interesting Tom Hardy performance.

I think by now we're all desensitized by comic book films. Marvel has just released the trailer to what looks like it will be one of the best superhero "villain" movies ever. Sony Pictures had promised then that it would soon be dropping a trailer, leading fans to naturally expect a treat during the Super Bowl on the weekend.

It's worth noting that filming wrapped just days ago, so there's a decent chance that Sony simply didn't have enough footage to put together a trailer befitting a movie that stars a giant CGI monster.
