  • Senate panel report questions Federal Bureau of Investigation handling of Hillary Clinton email case

The report by the staff of the Homeland Security Committee includes a newly released text message from Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer Lisa Page to Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok in September 2016 that refers to preparing talking points for then-Director James Comey for Obama.

"More revelations today from the text message chain between FBI Agent Peter Strzok and his then-lover, FBI Attorney Lisa page", Fox News' John Roberts reported at 11:03 a.m. ET. The messages - some of which revealed personal biases against President Donald Trump - have stirred controversy in Washington and caused many Republicans on Capitol Hill to question the FBI's independence in their Russian Federation probe. The memos have become the recent focus of the committee's probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, taking attention away from investigations into whether Trump's campaign was involved.

"In texts previously revealed, Strzok and Page have shown their disdain for Republicans in general, as well as Trump, calling him a "f--ing idiot", among other insults".

The last text is from Page to Strzok, and comes on June 23, 2017, when she wrote, "Please don't ever text me again". In others, both Strzok and Page wrote "F Trump". "Maybe it should just be the first meeting of the secret society".

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Obama's administration sought multiple FISA warrants to snoop on members of the Donald Trump campaign - and may have even listened in on conversations involving Trump in Trump Tower.

"And so in early September, when I saw President Putin in China, I felt that the most effective way to ensure that that didn't happen was to talk to him directly and tell him to cut it out, and there were going to be some serious consequences if he didn't", said at the time. We have a strict line, and always have maintained it, previous president.

In a text sent on September 2, 2016, Page tells Strozok that "potus wants to know everything we're doing".

McCabe stepped down from his post Monday, following months of pressure from Trump.

The Justice Department produced a "first tranche" of the Strzok-Page text messages on December 12 and January 19 in response to a written request from Sen. "It's like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you're 40".

Earlier tonight on The Five, as they led with this report, Dana Perino cautioned, "It could look bad or it could be he has seeking a briefing about the Russian involvement and meddling in the election".

The newly released texts also show praise for Comey when he was questioned for hours about his decision not to seek charges against Clinton for her use of a private email server.
