Deputy Secretary of State John J Sullivan, who recently returned from a visit to strife-torn Afghanistan, said the USA also expects Pakistan to contribute to a lasting and enduring peace in the region.

The meeting was held in a cordial environment and both delegations made some progress on the APAPPS. The delegation held talks with Pakistani leadership on security cooperation amid the highly volatile security situation in their country.

Analysts say there is no doubt that the Taliban are making steady gains across the country at the expense of embattled, US- and NATO-backed Afghan government forces.

The spokesman said addressing the APAPS, Â Janjua condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Kabul and offered joint investigation.

The Spokesperson told that the Foreign Secretary explained that instead of blame game both sides should engage in concrete cooperation.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani accused neighbouring Pakistan of failing to move against the Taliban and pledged a new security plan for Kabul after hundreds of people were killed and wounded in two deadly attacks on the capital last month.

He said that violence in Afghanistan only created problems for natives and the Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

Afghan and United States officials say the Haqqani network, a militant group affiliated with the Taliban and believed to be based in Pakistan, was responsible.

He also added that the Afghan government should take all stakeholders into discussion, even the Afghan Taliban should actively participate.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office in Islamabad issued a Joint Press Release on the meeting of High level Afghan and Pakistan delegations in Kabul. Looking beyond the immediate aftermath of what happened, a glimmer of hope has appeared on the horizon in the form of the Tashkent Conference that's prospectively slated to take place in March to revive the Afghan peace process.
