The former President who arrived the Ogun State Secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital at 12:44pm went ahead to fill the membership registration form handed over to him.

The former President who addressed hundreds of prospective members who had thronged the venue of the event since 9am said the statement issued against the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari was out of concern for the nation.

He emphasized that the movement is not a third force, but a pressure group for all Nigerians irrespective of political interest or affiliations.

The former Governor pointed out that the old ones in the coalition would be like the guardian angel while the young ones would be in the driver seat and steer the ship of the country. "In carrying out this task, we have taken into consideration the various calls for political, and social relationships across the various segments of the economy".

It was not clear yet if the CNN has a working strategy with the much touted Obasanjo's Coalition for Nigeria (CN), which may be launched today, but the CNN maintains that its major objective is to defend the unity of Nigeria while proffering solutions on the ways to move Nigeria in the right direction.

"To say we are legitimising Obasanjo's legacy I think it is a bit off the mark".

But in the buildup to the 2015 election, he gave up his membership of the former ruling party, announcing that he had quit partisan politics.

He also weighed in on ex-president Obasanjo's letter to Buhari, adding that Obasanjo was not in any position to give advice.

Duke said: "This endeavor is timely because there were several movements in the offing and this coalition has to bring them all together if we want to make things work".

He said the country was not going to get better except Nigerians come together to change the narrative and the situation.
