  • Broken windows are seen on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino after Paddock sprayed bullets onto the Route 91 Harvest country music festival killing 50 people

The Las Vegas Review-Journal said in an article published Tuesday that a judge had unsealed almost 300 pages of search warrant records, in which Haig and Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, were named as "persons of interest" last October.

An FBI spokeswoman said she could not immediately comment Tuesday.

While Danley and Haig were named by law enforcement as persons of interest in search warrant affidavits, neither have been charged with a crime.

Haig also worked at Northrop Grumman from 2004 to 2010, specializing in military platforms and technology, his LinkedIn indicates.

Haig told Newsweek he was questioned by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after the October 1 shooting.

"I never heard of the guy", Paddock said.

When contacted by phone Tuesday about the newly released name, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said only, "If you've got it, publish it".

The 55-year-old Haig, of Mesa, Arizona, told Newsweek in October that he had been interviewed by agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives shortly after the October 1 Las Vegas shooting, which left 58 dead and hundreds more wounded.

A Las Vegas judge, at the urging of a coalition of news media organizations and over the objection of police, today ordered the release of sealed search warrant materials connected to the investigation of the largest mass shooting in modern US history. The company sold tracer and incendiary rounds - ones that blow up on impact - for a range of sizes, according to its website.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal has identified that individual as Douglas Haig. Clark County District Court Judge Elissa Cadish later ordered the full document not be published without redactions, but she acknowledged she couldn't order the newspaper to retract the name.

Authorities in Las Vegas have said that while Stephen Paddock acted alone in killing 58 people at the music festival before killing himself in his Mandalay Bay suite, possible criminal charges are still being investigated.

The FBI and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department did not immediately respond to BuzzFeed News' questions about Haig. At a news conference January 20, authorities said that although shooter Stephen Paddock acted alone, the FBI was investigating a second person who could yet face charges not directly connected to the shooting itself.

Lombardo also said he did not anticipate Danley facing any criminal charges.

Haig said on "CBS This Morning" on Wednesday, that he sold more than 700 rounds of ammunition to Paddock, but had no connection to the man and had no idea what he was planning.

UPDATE AT 10:45 A.M. January 30: Judge Timothy Williams has ruled that the coroner's reports related to the 1 October mass shooting must be released. The Las Vegas Review-Journal used an unredacted copy and identified Mr. Haig.
