New signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan is cup-tied for Arsenal after appearing in the quarter-finals for his former club Manchester United against Bristol City.

The match is Chelsea's third game to be subject to VAR testing - with the trial hiccuping in their FA Cup win over Norwich City when the video ref was not shown a vital replay of a penalty call as he did not have access to footage seen by viewers.

The replay follows a drab goalless first-leg that means the victor on the night qualifies for the final.

In his press conference earlier today, Antonio Conte said that both Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas will be unavailable.

Morata is ruled out of the encounter at the Emirates Stadium with a back problem in a blow to Conte and Chelsea's hopes of reaching the Carabao Cup final.

However, defender Andreas Christensen has been cleared to play, despite having been substituted at the weekend due to a head injury.

Asked about the fitness of his squad, Conte replied: "Morata and Fabregas are out". If you look, as we just spoke about, in the last seven games it's always very tight, so what you could say is that what comes out is no real favourite, but we are at home and we feel strong at home and so we want to take advantage of it.

It was the same in the Carabao Cup - he played only 10 minutes. "I have to check a couple of situations before making the best decision".

'I have another night before deciding the starting XI, ' Conte said.

'Tomorrow there is not another game and we don't have another possibility and we need to try to reach the final'.

"Do I think it will be more like the last League game?" To play the final we must get past Arsenal, which is always a big challenge. In this season the first game in the league ended 0-0 and 2-2 in the second game.
