AFN regularly shows National Football League playoff games; however, with the network now offline, Eagles, Vikings, Patriots and Jaguars fans deployed overseas won't be able to watch the the AFC Championship or NFC Championship on the network on Sunday, and that's likely not going to change unless the shutdown somehow ends over the next 24 hours.

Message to Chuck, this is not exactly a victor when it comes to public relations.

As reported by Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk, the American Forces Network halted programming due to the ongoing government shutdown.

Operated by the Department of Defense, the network offers multiple television, radio and streaming outlets to military in 168 countries as well as U.S. Navy ships worldwide.

First McCarthy tweeted that games would be made available free of charge at USO Centers.

With their broadcasts offline, it'll be a lot trickier for any overseas troops or their families to watch the games.

By Sunday morning, McCarthy announced that the AFN would air the games after all.

"Thanks to uniform leadership at AFN, our comptroller and legal team, we were able to turn on one channel based on operational necessity and FY17 funds had already been paid on the contract", White said in a release. Several military members even took to the AFN Europe's Facebook page to complain about the situation.

Due to of the government shutdown, United States troops will not be able to watch either of the NFL's conference championship games on the American Forces Network, which serves as the primary channel for overseas troops to watch American programming.
