  • Francis Coquelin of Arsenal in action during the UEFA Europa League group H match between 1. FC Koeln and Arsenal FC at RheinEnergieStadion

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is in talks over a move to side Valencia.

He was left out of the side that were dumped out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest on Sunday, but has made several appearances in both the Europa League and the League Cup.

A handful of English clubs, including West Ham United, were thought to also be interested in the Frenchman. It's only a few months until the ten-year anniversary of Coquelin's move to North London but it seems that he won't be staying long enough to celebrate it. In the race to sign Coquelin, Valencia are not alone. Instead of looking at others, those two guys that you should have signed up a long time ago are not secured yet'.

The former Arsenal striker's eyebrows almost hit the ceiling as he puffed out his cheeks in scenes reminiscent of his astonished reaction to Brendan Rodgers' sacking several years ago.

Although Coquelin has been peripheral this season, his sale is a further sign that Wilshere has won his battle to convince manager Arsene Wenger that he does have a realistic long-term future at the club.

Coquelin has been in and out of the Arsenal first team due to his injuries.

Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that Arsenal duo Francis Coquelin and Elneny are among the players being considered by West Ham as manager David Moyes attempts to strengthen his midfield options this month.
