  • Princess Charlotte

The images were taken by Charlotte's mother, the former Kate Middleton, shortly before she left for her first day of nursery at the Willcocks Nursery School, a private school in west London.

In the gorgeous photos, Princess Charlotte looks every bit her stylish mum's daughter in a burgundy coat, shoes, matching hair ribbon, and grey tights.

Princess Charlotte's mom, the Duchess of Cambridge took the photos that were tweeted out by Kensington Palace.

Starting today, Charlotte will be a full-time student at Willcocks, where she will take pottery and poetry classes.

Charlotte is fourth-in-line to the British throne behind her father, her elder brother George and grandfather Prince Charles and her parents are expecting a third baby in April. Adding a red bow, Charlotte also sported a pale pink knit scarf and a pink backpack featuring a horse print design from Cath Kidston.

Charlotte, 2, was dressed in a red coat, by United Kingdom children's fashion line Amaia, and red shoes for her first day at Willcocks Nursery School in London.

Despite her young age, Charlotte is already settling into a lifetime of royal duties.

Charlotte's school is nearby Kensington Palace, where she lives with her family, the BBC reported when her school choice was announced in December.

The school has been described in reports as having a loyal following of "old English families and chic foreigners" and is something of a "hidden gem" in the shadow of the Royal Albert Hall. "We look forward to welcoming Charlotte to our nursery in January".
