Former President Barack Obama is set to be late-night legend David Letterman's first guest on his new Netflix series next week, marking 44's return to major talk show scene.

This screengrab shows a preview of David Letterman (R)'s interview with former USA president Barack Obama which will be shown on Netflix.

US President Barack Obama tapes an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, May 4, 2015.

The booking is a huge win for Letterman and Netflix since it will be Obama's first television talk show appearance since leaving office.

This would be Obama's first televised interview since his departure from the White House a year ago.

David Letterman is retiring from retirement.

The former late-night host has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, calling his presidency "an experiment" that didn't work earlier this year during an interview with Howard Stern.

Netflix is serious about launching David Letterman's new six-episode, one-hour talk show series.

Field segments will bring Letterman to locations far and wide, expressing his curiosity and desire to dig deeper on a specific topic related to the iconic guest featured in the episode.
