  • Cancer Deaths Continue a Steep Decline

The cancer statistics 2018 shows a decline in mortality rate due to the infection in lung, breast, prostate and colorectal cancer.

Cancer deaths have fallen yet again, thanks mostly to huge declines in smoking, the American Cancer Society said Thursday.

In relation to breast cancer, the death rate gets fall to 39 percent from 1989 to 2015.

"Strikingly though, tobacco remains by far the leading cause of cancer deaths today, responsible for almost three in ten cancer deaths".

The most common cancers to be diagnosed in men are prostate, lung, and colorectal cancers, which account for 42 percent of all cases, with prostate cancer alone accounting for nearly 1 in 5 new diagnoses. Despite such hard statistics, cancer deaths continue to decrease-with the death rate dropping 1.7 percent in 2015, according to a new report by the American Cancer Society.

The country's general tumor demise rate declined 1.7 percent in 2015, the most recent sign of relentless, long haul advance against the infection, as per another report by the American Cancer Society. The report also includes the effect of cancer on Hispanic and Asian Americans. After cancer, heart disease is the second major cause of death in individuals. Jemal coauthored a study of women with breast cancer from 2004 to 2013 that found being uninsured accounted for more than one-third of the higher death rate for black women. A fall of 52 percent is noticed in relation to prostate cancer from 1993 to 2015. Currently, fewer cases of prostate cancer are being detected.

Women have a 37.6 percent percent chance of ever being diagnosed with cancer. In Delaware, for example, paying for screenings and treatment for the uninsured helped to drastically reduce colorectal cancer mortality rates and shrink the gap between blacks and whites.

With the variation in cancer death rate, the lifetime probability is still higher in men than women.

The good news, Goler Blount said, is more than 90 percent of black women are now insured following the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

While progress is evident, stark racial disparities remain. Cancer death rates were not statistically different by race in Kentucky and West Virginia, for example, but were the highest of all states for whites.
