  • Tokyo-Bound Plane Out of LAX Ends Up Flying to.. LAX

Chrissy Teigen and her fellow passengers on a flight bound for Tokyo from Los Angeles thought they were on their way to Japan when the plane's wheels left the airport tarmac in California Tuesday night.

She said passengers were told someone had managed to board the ANA flight with a United Airlines ticket and added that police interviewed passengers who were sitting near the person.

She went on to express her frustration over having to return because of one person, stating, "Why did we all get punished for this one person's mistake?"

Per The Guardian, an unidentified "rogue passenger" somehow boarded the wrong plane-a la Kevin McCallister in Home Alone 2: Lost In New York-and no one noticed until everyone was hovering somewhere over the North Pacific. CNN reports the crew discovered the mystery passenger and alerted the pilot, who made a decision to return to LAX.

In a written statement, ANA said the crew told the pilot about the passenger being on the wrong flight.

After tweeting that the eight hour, 20 minute flight had reached LAX, there was a further delay while police carried out checks.

Nippon Airways said they were trying to figure out how the passenger with the United ticket was able to get on board.

Eventually, Teigen and Legend boarded a new flight that included Yoda as their flight buddy and Star Wars music.

"Lmao after all this I will have spent 8 hours on a flight to nowhere".

And, Teigen, a model and television personality, who was traveling with her husband, singer John Legend, live tweeted it all. Why not just land in Tokyo and send the other person back? "We are on ANA", Teigen said on Twitter". How is this the better idea, you ask?

In a follow-up statement, the airline repeated its apologies, saying it "failed to deliver the customer service we strive for and passengers expect from us".

If investigators determine there was intent to board the incorrect flight, one of the brothers could be accused of being a stowaway, a federal offense punishable up to five years behind bars.
