Fellaini undecided on Manchester United future

  • Steven Defour's free-kick gave Burnley a 2-1 lead before Jesse Lingard's late equaliser

After today's 2-2 draw with Burnley at Old Trafford - in which they were rescued by Jesse Lingard after Zlatan Ibrahimovic stirred discomfiting memories of Falcao - Mourinho told the press that United are not true title contenders as they have not spent enough money.

City spent nearly £100million to bring Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy to the Etihad, while also spending another £27m on Danilo, and Mourinho insists he needs more in order to be able to compete with Pep Guardiola's side.

Fellaini has divided opinion among United fans since joining from Everton in the summer of 2013, with his combative approach often derided as clumsy and oafish.

"I have something in my head but I can not tell you", said Fellaini when asked about his future.

Arsenal continue their Premier League campaign with a trip to Crystal Palace on Thursday but will be without Nacho Monreal and Olivier Giroud. Do you think Real Madrid are not as big as we are?

Mourinho might rightly point to the long spells of dominance in the second half which were arguably worthy of their share of the spoils but in truth United had been their own worst enemies in the first 45 minutes and were ultimately fortunate to get their point.

"Manchester City buy the full backs for the price of the strikers", scoffed Mourinho, but the £120.8 million trio of Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo, along with goalkeeper Ederson, were the final pieces of the puzzle for Guardiola, for whom Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus have also been astute acquisitions. The price for the big clubs is different to the other clubs. "So when you speak about big football clubs, you are speaking about the history of the club".

"They have labelled me an aggressive player, a murderer".

"The boys do what they can".

"And then instead of more positional players like Zlatan and [Romelu] Lukaku, we chose to go with Mkhitaryan, Lingard and [Juan] Mata all three trying to play in these areas behind Lukaku and we can say we had some success".
