Field Yates, NFL reporter for ESPN, cited an unnamed source when he tweeted that Harrison is at Gillette Stadium visiting with the Patriots.

Harrison initially passed through waivers without a single National Football League team claiming him, but that doesn't necessarily indicate actual interest levels.

Beyond that, Harrison should be another quality addition to the Patriots locker room as they eye a Super Bowl repeat.

The Patriots have made a habit of looking to veterans to fill out holes in their roster heading into the final weeks of the season.

When James Harrison eventually retires - it has to happen at some point, right? - he'll go down as a Steelers legend.

The Pittsburgh Steelers waived five-time Pro Bowl linebacker James Harrison on Saturday in a move that surprised many around the NFL.

The 39-year-old Harrison played only 40 defensive snaps for Pittsburgh this season.

The way the AFC playoff picture is shaking out, it's a sure thing that the Steelers and Patriots will get first-round byes.

Harrison has 82.5 career sacks over 15 National Football League seasons.

The Patriots have found a diamond in the rough in Eric Lee to help as a pass rusher on the edge. Chances are that if the Pats make it to the AFC title game, they're going to be staring back at Pittsburgh.

The Patriots have a need, Harrison has played in big games, and there are big games ahead - possibly against Harrison's former team, the Steelers.
