Marvin Lewis Reportedly Plans On Leaving Bengals After Season

  • Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis left and Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson right meet on the field after an NFL football game Sunday Nov. 26 2017 in Cincinnati

The Bengals have averaged 79.4 rushing yards per game this season.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the Bengals long-time head coach and the team plan to mutually part ways after the 2017 season, per sources informed of the situation. Case Keenum completed 20 of his 23 passes and threw a pair of touchdowns before giving way to Teddy Bridgewater, who played for the first time since returning from the left knee injury he suffered on August 30, 2016.

The Bengals would be the second team to be seeking a coach for 2018.

The scene immediately before Bridgewater entered the game was an emotional one on the Vikings sideline, with player after player-led by Keenum-stepped up to offer words of support and encouragement. "They want to be first". With right tackle Mike Remmers missing for a fifth straight contest, Rashod Hill again took his spot until a sprained ankle forced left tackle Riley Reiff out in the third quarter and Hill to switch sides, with four-position backup Jeremiah Sirles taking over the right side.

This game comes up at an interesting time for both head coaches in this matchup. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Green has caught at least one touchdown pass in 51 games and has had six games with two scores. Rudolph, a Cincinnati native, paid tribute to the 50-year-old franchise's better days by doing his version of the "Ickey Shuffle" to celebrate his score.

Lewis, 59, coached the Cincinnati Bengals for 15 seasons and is the winningest coach in the franchise's history. While their former defensive coordinator is coaching a contender.

Bengals: The long list of missing starters began to grow nearly immediately, when Iloka and LT Cedric Ogbuehi (shoulder) left in the first quarter.

Vikings: Rudolph (ankle) played TE despite being originally listed on Friday as doubtful to play. The 2016 season was out, and early projections indicated 2017 was probably cashed as well. WR Jarius Wright hurt his foot in the fourth quarter and did not return.

Bridgewater's first pass attempt of Sunday's game was intercepted after it glanced off the hands of Jerick McKinnon and into those of Bengals safety Shaun Williams.
