The hammering in Edinburgh saw Brendan Rodgers lose his first domestic game in charge of Celtic. It's a thoroughly deserved win.

16-year-old Harry Cochrane opened the scoring for the home side after 26 minutes.

The Hoops went down 4-0 to an impressive Hearts side at Tynecastle Park, with Craig Levein's men outclassing the champions and current leaders.

Rodgers gathered his players on the Tynecastle pitch at full-time and urged the Scottish Premiership leaders to use the frustration of defeat as fuel for another long unbeaten run.

"I also want to congratulate my players", Rodgers said.

"All credit to Celtic to be in a position of going into a game to get their 70th without defeat, it shows a huge level of commitment, effort and quality to be able to do that".

What they have done is absolutely awesome but to use this feeling that they haven't felt for 18 months, use it as a lever moving forward and let's learn from it and be better for it.

"We've had to manage the squad since July and the players have coped brilliantly", the Northern Irishman noted at his pre-match media briefing.

In an interview with the Scottish Sun, the Hearts boss shared that he was "pleased" with his team ending the Hoops' run but had nothing but praise for his opponents.

There are little more than three days for the Bhoys to lick their wounds before they play a home fixture against Partick Thistle on Wednesday. They did everything they could to run the miles they needed to to shut Celtic down.
