  • A new Harry Potter RPG is coming in 2018

There's another new Harry Potter smartphone game in development - this time, a narrative-based RPG where you get to attend Hogwarts. Yes, you can also take classes such as Potions, Duelling Club, and our favorite Defence Against the Dark Arts.

It's not the only Harry Potter mobile game to be released next year, as Niantic, the bods behind Pokemon Go, one of the biggest mobile games of the past couple of years, will be releasing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

While fans can walk around inside a physical recreation of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios theme parks, there's nothing that simulates the experience of being a student at the school from the Harry Potter books and movies.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery launches on iOS and Android in 2018.

We all know that Portkeys are supposed to be junk that no one would touch, but in 2018 the Ministry of Magic (aka Warner Brothers) is allowing a new item to become a transportation - your phone, through some mobile games. But what Potterheads will probably never see, sadly, is an eighth installment of the original book series.

According to the co-founder and CEO of Jam City, Chris DeWolfe, the game is a salute to one of the "most iconic brands in history". But there will be no Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, or Hermione Granger to greet them.

But sometimes the lovely guessing games our phones play with our messaging can yield something attractive, in this case a Harry Potter chapter written entirely using predictive text.

Botnik Studios shared their hilarious creation on Twitter, where they included a cover of Harry Potter and the Portrait of What Looked Like a Large Pile of Ash, chapter title pages including "The Handsome One", and some of the book's greatest (read: weirdest) quotes.

The game will be free to play with in-app purchases that will enhance the experience.

This is the first game under WB's new Portkey Games label, a banner devoted to creating games inspired by J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World. The game takes place in the 1980s - which in the Harry Potter timeline means it is set well before Harry, Ron, Hermione and their classmates began their studies - but it will feature such characters as Dumbledore, Hagrid and Professor Snape.
