Gowdy Rebuffs Dem Request To Probe Whistleblower's Mike Flynn Claims

Donald Trump was just 11 minutes into his presidency when his choice for national security adviser, Michael Flynn, texted a former business partner to say an ambitious USA collaboration with Russian Federation to build nuclear reactors in the Middle East was "good to go", according to a new whistleblower account.
Mr. Cummings sent the letter to the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Committee, Trey Gowdy, Republican of SC, and asked him to investigate the whistle-blower's claims.
Cummings said he had spoken to the witness and called the account a "credible" allegation that Flynn "sought to manipulate the course of worldwide nuclear policy for the financial gain of his former business partners". Staffers for the special counsel asked Mr. Cummings not to make the whistle-blower's account public until "they completed certain investigative steps", he wrote.
"These grave allegations compel a full, credible, and bipartisan congressional investigation", Mr Cummings wrote in the letter to Mr Gowdy, a South Carolina Republican, which outlines the information provided by the whistle-blower.
A lawyer for Mr. Flynn declined to comment.
"Mike has been putting everything in place for us.This is going to make a lot of very wealthy people", Copson told the whistleblower, according to Cummings' letter. But it's not. Cummings provided hard evidence that he wants to form the basis of a subpoena created to uproot what really happened.
The whistle-blower, Mr. Cummings said, is willing to meet with Mr. Gowdy if he agrees to protect the person's identity.
On Friday, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents about conversations he had in December 2016 with the Russian ambassador to the United States about the sanctions, among other topics. He also lied when he said he did not recall a follow-up conversation with the ambassador, who said that "Russia had chosen to moderate its response to those sanctions as a result of Flynn's request". But the nuclear project that Flynn and his business associate had worked on together was stymied by US financial sanctions on Russian Federation. Mr Copson was described by the whistle-blower as responding, "I couldn't be better", and that he was "going to celebrate today".
The witness told Cummings and committee investigators that Copson shared a text message he had just received from Flynn, who was on stage at the Capitol during Trump's speech. Mr. Copson confirmed in a letter to me on June 27, 2017, that his company paid the expenses for a trip General Flynn made to the Middle East in June 2015 to promote his project and provided a $25,000 check to compensate him for the "loss of income and business opportunities resulting from this trip".
Mr Copson showed his phone with the text message to the whistle-blower, who saw that the time stamp of the message was 12:11, but didn't read the text.
Mr Copson couldn't be located for comment.
Flynn didn't reveal his relationship with ACU Strategic Partners until August after leaving it off previous government forms.
