  • Texas Motorist with Profane Anti-Trump Sticker on Truck Adds Local Sheriff to Display after Being Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

Reynolds, who was convicted in 2015 in his own criminal case, said the sheriff's initial Facebook post (which has since been removed) is politically motivated as Nehls is reported to be considering a run against District 22 U.S. Representative Pete Olson, the Houston newspaper reported.

Accoridng to the news station, she and state Rep. Ron Reynolds planned to hold a press conference on Monday to discuss the injustices that she felt she faced. Attorney Brian Middleton says those stops would have alerted Nehls to Fonseca before the sheriff targeted her online.

He posted a photo of the truck message on Facebook on Wednesday alongside a request to speak with the driver. That owner happened to be Karen Fonseca, who, a day later, was arrested on an outstanding warrant on fraud charges from 2015. Not only has she not taken the decal off her truck, she's added another name to it: Sheriff Nehls'.

Fonseca's trouble with Nehls all started last week when a picture of the vehicle - which technically belongs to her husband, but which she clearly sometimes drives - went viral after the Sheriff posted it to his Facebook page. The indictment continues, charging that Fonseca did not have the consent of the victim to use her identifying documents.

But, she says that her arrest was connected to her truck. Despite it all, the Fonsecas have maintained that their truck's message, though insulting to the president and his supporters, is an exercise of their right to freedom of speech. Next to the predominant "Fuck Trump" sticker that got her in hot water last week, this new decal reads, "Fuck Troy Nehls and fuck you for voting for him". She receives some negative reactions, particularly among older white men, but most people stop to laugh, tell her stories or ask where to buy it, Fonseca said. We should stand together and always stand behind what you believe. "And I'm just one person".

Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls said he was "not surprised" by the sticker, and "thinks it's disgusting". "He has professional detectives under his employment who could have easily found Mrs. Fonseca if they needed to find her". Fonseca was arrested, but not for the anti-Trump message.

Nehls' office later received a tip on the identity of the truck's owner.
