  • Donald Trump's continued denials of Russian collusion

A former foreign policy adviser to President Donald Trump's campaign has told a House committee he had contact with a high-level Russian official while on a trip to Russia a year ago.

The full 243-page document is below.

Congress has been investigating possible Trump campaign collusion with the Kremlin for almost 10 months, but a top Senate Democrat says she has still not seen evidence to support the allegation.

Confronted with his email, Page told the committee that he had not meant that he met with any officials but rather that he had learned of their views about the US election from local media and scholars. It was on that trip that he met with the Russian officials. "I forget the exact date, but it was the Thursday night before I flew to Moscow to give my speech".

That disclosure, first reported last week, has led Democrats to accuse Sessions of misleading Congress in testimony under oath when he said he wasn't aware of Trump campaign contacts with Russians.

"You have them both reporting back to the campaign, you have the campaign deceiving the public about their knowledge of these things", Schiff said."So I hardly think that these are coincidental". Al Franken, D-Minn. Clovis's decision came just days after court filings indicated that he may have encouraged President Trump's campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos to set up meetings with Russians for the Trump campaign. "Near the end of the dinner, Page approached Sessions to say hello and thanked the then-senator for the dinner, and Page also mentioned he was headed to Russian Federation". Both pleaded not guilty on October 30, when prosecutors warned that they might flee the USA before their trial if their bail terms weren't stringent enough.

Page's testimony also revealed that more campaign staff members were aware of his July 2016 trip to Russian Federation than had previously been disclosed, including Jeff Sessions, who is now the attorney general.

He told the committee that he informed then-Sen.

Dr. Page, Mr. Steele in the dossier makes reference to a meeting that you had with a representative of the Presidential administration.

Page described the conversation to CNN after he finished talking to the House intelligence committee.

In testimony made public on Monday, Page initially said he did not meet with any senior Russian officials during a trip in July 2016 but later said he "briefly" greeted Russian deputy prime minister Arkady Dvorkovich, and saw him again at a dinner in December 2016.

Papadopoulos also told his superiors on the campaign that he was being offered "dirt" on Democratic rival Hillary Clinton and "off the record" meetings with Russian leaders - which, according to court documents, he was encouraged to pursue.

Perhaps most important, Schiff said, Page "detailed his meetings with Russian government officials and others, and said that they provided him with insights and outreach that he was interested in sharing with the campaign".

Sessions appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee during the former Alabama senator's confirmation hearing for attorney general.

Schiff said the committee looks forward to Page's "continued cooperation" with its investigation.
