  • What Gamers Can Expect from the Future of the World of Warcraft

While the current version of the game is still enjoyed by millions of players, there was something magical about those early days that fans have been dying to return to.

Battle for Azeroth is the sixth major expansion for World of Warcraft since the game launched in 2004.

This weekend, Blizzard and its loyal base of fans have gathered in Anaheim, CA for BlizzCon, the annual convention and biggest event of the year for the gaming giant. Additionally, players that are just planning to hop in for one quick run with a random group can opt-in to voice chat for the duration of the activity. Not only did developers announce the upcoming addition of a vanilla server, which would allow gamers to go back to WoW's roots and play as if they were playing when the game first debuted, but they officially unveiled the game's seventh expansion; Battle For Azeroth. Alliance defenders however seek the aid of equally capable seafaring kingdom Kul Tiras, home of Jaina Proudmoore. On these new continents, players will recruit new "allied races" to bolster the ranks of their faction. The level of detailing and the expansiveness of this display was a fantastic treat for those long-time World of Warcraft \/em fans.

Scour Azeroth's myriad uncharted Islands and conquer an ever-changing array of enemies, environments, and objectives. Right now, Blizzard has only six races in the works, but more are planned for the future; Horde players will be able to make Nightborne, Highmountain Tauren, and Zanadalari Trolls, while Alliance players will gain the option to create Void Elves, Lightforged Draenei, and Dark Iron Dwarves.

Charge Into the Warfronts: Fight on the battlefields of a large-scale, 20-player cooperative Warfront to claim a key strategic location. Capture resources to build your faction's forces, lead the charge as your troops lay siege to objectives, and fight the enemy commander to claim victory in this new PvE mode inspired by classic Warcraft RTS battles. Imbue the Heart of Azeroth-a legendary neck piece entrusted to each hero by Magni Bronzebeard-with Azerite to customise your armour with new powers and traits. Battle for Azeroth will arrive sometime next year.
