Astros' Justin Verlander marries model Kate Upton in Italy

Verlander, 34, spent the first 13 seasons of his Major League Baseball career with the Detroit Tigers before getting traded to the Astros this season.

The wedding comes just days after Verlander and his team, the Houston Astros, beat the Los Angeles Dodgers to win their first World Series.

Justin Verlander and Kate Upton now World Series victor husband and super model wife. They then watched Upton tie the knot in a white Valentino gown with lace sleeves and a long veil. By that point Verlander and Upton were already in Italy, where they would get married Saturday in a medieval church in Tuscany's Montalcino valley. TMZ reports that Verlander flew overseas right after the World Series, so he missed out on the Astros championship parade on Friday.


The wedding took place at the Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco resort. Her hair was styled in side part with loose waves. After the 30 minute ceremony, guests descended stairs to the restaurant on the property for the reception.

Upton, who is 25, and 34-year old Verlander began dating in early 2014 and announced their engagement at last year's Met Gala, when Upton appeared on the red carpet wearing a large diamond on her left ring finger.
