The NYPD is investigating a third sexual assault allegation against Harvey Weinstein - this time from an actress who accuses the fallen movie mogul of raping her in 2010, authorities said.

De la Huerta told the news outlet that Weinstein began calling her after the incident and that she confronted him a month later at a Los Angeles hotel.

Detectives say her story is believable and have corroborated parts of her story.

At press conference on Friday, November 3, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert K. Boyce also spoke about the allegations.

"We have an actual case here", Boyce said. This happened seven years ago, and we found corroboration along the way.

The 33-year-old met the disgraced Oscar victor at a party in October, 2010, and the pair shared a ride home together, she told CBS News.

"Immediately when we got inside the house, he started to kiss me and I kind of brushed [him] away", de la Huerta said.

Weinstein had apparently repeatedly called her since the first alleged assault, and drunkenly showed up at her building lobby, insisting that they go to her apartment, de la Huerta described.

Almost two months later, de la Huerta said Weinstein showed up in the lobby of her apartment one night. She had been drinking and was not in a condition to give consent, CBS reported the actress said. Either way, they need collaboration from Manhattan prosecutors, who put the brakes on a 2015 investigation into Weinstein.

Criminal investigations continue to mount for Harvey Weinstein, the Oscar-winning movie producer who stands accused by dozens of women of sexual assault and harassment. Weinstein has denied having non-consensual sex with anyone.

Is there enough evidence for prosecutors to file charges against Weinstein?

The NYPD and Manhattan district attorney's office are both investigating allegations made by the "Boardwalk Empire" actress.

He said the NYPD was working on the case with the Manhattan district attorney's office.
