Former Trump campaign adviser: Papadopoulos was 'coffee boy'

Some, including Papadopoulos himself, noted that this isn't the first time his name has caused confusions: It's also pronounced the same as a character on the TV show "Webster". Papadopoulos initially told investigators his communications with the professor happened before he prior to and independently of his association with the Trump campaign, but has now admitted he was lying and is cooperating with prosecutors.

Cuomo pushed back on Caputo's characterization, and brought up a picture of Papadopoulos sitting with President Donald Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions in a meeting.

"George Papadopoulos is to Greeks what John Smith is to the English", said Peter Papas under the handle @CanadianFlags. The leader of the Washington office of the campaign didn't know who he was until his name appeared in the press. "But, in fact, if he was going to wear a wire, all we'd know now is whether he prefers a caramel macchiato over a regular American coffee in conversations with his barista".

While visiting his mother in Greece, Novi's George Papadopoulos spent the next 24 hours sending out missives on Twitter denying he's the Trump adviser whom the Federal Bureau of Investigation says tried to collude with a Russian to get political dirt on Trump's Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.

"He was the coffee boy", Caputo said. "I'm sure there are a lot of phones ringing off the hook to folks' lawyers", said Julie Myers Wood, another Whitewater prosecutor.

He added, "Now according to Trump, George is just some random young person he's barely heard of, like Tiffany" (a sarcastic reference to Trump's younger daughter).

George Papadopoulos, a Michigan-based CFP, shares the same name with the former foreign policy advisor to the campaign of President Trump. "It never met again, the guy never landed on the campaign, he never had a role, he never got paid, he was never a staffer".
