  • One Person Is In Custody After Police Respond To Reports Of A Shooting In Manhattan

Police are not looking for any other suspects in the attack and advising the public to avoid Chambers Street, which is the area where the incident took place.

The shooting comes just hours before New York's annual Halloween parade, which attracts thousands to the West Village, a few blocks north of Lower Manhattan. But they said that it was a gun, so I was like: "'Oh my God, '" the witness told NY1.

President Donald Trump is declaring "NOT IN THE U.S.A." after a man in a rented truck plowed into a busy bike path near the World Trade Center, killing at least eight people.

He was then shot by police, according to sources.

ABC News reports the truck hit a school bus. Four people were removed from the bus and they had minor injuries, the official said.

NY governor Andrew Cuomo said the cycle path incident was a "lone-wolf" attack, and there was no evidence it was part of a wider plot. He says he saw the bodies of two men on the ground, their bikes mangled. The office of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the governor was heading to the scene.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Chambers Street around 3 p.m., officials said.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called the incident "an act of terror, and a particularly cowardly act of terror aimed at innocent civilians".

The New York Police Department is sending out updates on social media and posted on its Twitter feed that one person was in custody.

The incident happened near both Stuyvesant High School and Borough of Manhattan Community College.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected", she added. Law enforcement is following this closely.
