  • Tokyo police have found nine bodies including two with their heads severed in a flat in the city suburbsMore

The Japanese police found nine different bodies, including two headless ones in an apartment in Zama, a neighborhood situated near Tokyo.

The crime came to light on Monday when two severed heads were found in a cooler box at the entrance of the second-floor apartment.

The news agency Jiji has reported for his part that the young man had cut the body in a bathroom, and a saw had been found in his room.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department made the discovery while investigating Takahiro Shiraishi in connection with the disappearance of a 23-year-old woman from Hachioji.

"I killed them, and I'm a busy little bodies to hide the evidence", said the man to the police, according to NHK.

The police arrested the occupier of the premises, a man of 27 years, according to the state tv channel NHK.

The AP reports that the missing woman met Shiraishi over a website for people with suicidal feelings.

The apartment building is near Camp Zawa, a Japanese U.S. Army base. The police plan to carry out DNA tests in an effort to identify the deceased, the investigators added. There, authorities found bodies belonging to eight women and one man.

According to Kyodo, the woman's brother who contacted the police on October 24, his sister had been missing since October 21.

Police inspect the apartment where dismembered bodies were found in coolers in Zama.

An examination of security camera footage taken at Odakyu Sobudai-Mae Station, which is located near the residence, on October 23 shows the woman with the man.

Shiraishi's neighbors noticed "foul smells" near his apartment lately. "It was something I never smelled before".

In July last year, a 27-year-old former employee at a care home for the disabled killed 19 and injured more than 20 in a knife attack in what is believed to be the deadliest mass killing in postwar Japan.

Earlier this month, a man was arrested for killing his wife and five children after setting fire to their house.
