  • Dem lobbyist Podesta steps down amid Mueller scrutiny report

Podesta, brother of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's campaign Chairman John Podesta, resigned from the firm on Monday following Manafort's indictment by a grand jury.

Podesta, 74, is the founder and chairman of the Podesta Group, which has been described by The New York Times as "one of Washington's biggest players". What he know (s) about Crooked Dems is earth shattering.

The lobbyist's exit comes as former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his business associate, Rick Gates, were indicted in a federal court Monday on 12 counts, including conspiracy to launder money, conspiracy against the United States, and making false and misleading statements.

Tucker Carlson's reporting on the Podesta Group has apparently gotten under someone's skin.

Top lobbyists at the Podesta Group plan to restructure the firm under a new name.

"[Tony] was very magnanimous", and said, "This is an unbelievable group of people", a source present at the meeting stated, according to Politico.

Trump on Tuesday said Tony Podesta's exit from his firm was Monday's "biggest story" instead of the indictment of Manafort.

Later in the day, Podesta announced his resignation at a staff meeting at the Podesta Group's Washington headquarters. In the past three decades it's become one of the most profitable lobbying shops in D.C. While John spent most of his career in government, Tony gained influence as a bundler, hosting lavish fundraisers at his home in Kalorama and donating almost $1.2 million to Democratic candidates over the years. Gates and Manafort for many years represented the Party of Regions, a Russia-friendly political organization in Ukraine that was led by Viktor Yanukovych, former president of the Ukraine who fled to Moscow in 2014. She added: "The Podesta Group has fully cooperated with the Special Counsel's office and taken every possible step to provide documentation that confirms compliance with the law". "Based on our due diligence and on the recommendation of definitive legal experts, the firm immediately filed the appropriate public disclosures of its representation of the ECFMU over five years ago, and in eight subsequent public filings".

The Podesta Group and Mercury said they relied on assurances provided by the nonprofit group that it was neither funded nor controlled by any foreign government or party.

Podesta, who in July told the president to "get a grip," appeared to be responding to Trump's accusations against him and his brother, Tony Podesta, on Twitter earlier Tuesday morning. The group claimed it thought it was working for a European think thank that was not linked to a political party.
