  • WWE Releases Emma, Summer Rae & Darren Young

The timing of Emma's release is interesting, because it comes on the heels of her actually being used more frequently.

Most as of late, Emma had a couple of matches with the recently appeared Asuka at the TLC pay-per-see and the next night on Monday Night Raw.

First, the company announced Sunday that Emma came to terms on a release from her contract.

Whether it was locking horns with Paige in NXT or playing nuanced characters that always managed to captivate the audience, Emma made her mark in the WWE despite a jarring lack of silverware. She enjoyed a prosperous time with the yellow and black group, contesting excellent matches with the likes of Charlotte and Bayley, but she was unable to translate her potential to the main roster.

All questions regarding the former WWE Superstar's future in the professional wrestling industry will be answered in the days to come. She returned to the main roster in March of 2016 but never really connected with the WWE Universe with her gimmick. After an incident that led to her doing community service, WWE briefly released her in 2014. WWE attempted to re-boot Young by attaching him to WWE Hall of Famer, Darren Young, however, an elbow surgery cost him that run. The last time WWE fans saw Summer Rae was part of Team B.A.D. and Blonde at WrestleMania 32 defeating Team Total Divas. She defeated Mickie James, competed in a Raw Women's Championship Match at WWE No Mercy, won a fatal 5-way match for the right to square off against the debuting Asuka.

Both Summer Rae and Darren Young have been out with injuries.
