  • Stephen and Bruce's father Benjamin was a notorious bank robber who was on the FBI's Most Wanted List for nearly a decade

The brother of the Las Vegas gunman, who killed 58 people and injured almost 500 more, was arrested Wednesday in Los Angeles on child pornography charges, officials said.

Police say Paddock hauled an arsenal of weapons to his 32nd-floor suite at the Mandalay Bay hotel, and on October 1, broke the window and rained down hundreds of bullets into the crowd attending a music festival below, killing 58 people and injuring more than 500.

Several days after the attack, authorities found several guns, a "plethora of ammunition", and many electronic devices at Paddock's home in Reno, Nevada, USA Today reports.

Bruce Paddock was facing charges in relation to a probe that began before the shooting in Las Vegas.

Paddock was reportedly living at the assisted living facility.

In the days after the Vegas carnage, he frantically tried to reconnect with members of his fractured family, leaving messages for another brother, Eric, and reaching out to the attorney for Stephen's girlfriend, Marilu Danley. Investigators also discovered that Paddock had purchased software created to erase files from a hard drive, but it is not yet known if the software was used. The ISIS terrorist group has claimed responsibility, but authorities say they have not discovered any evidence to link the massacre to terrorism.

U.S. authorities have been in contact with the shooter's Australian girlfriend, Marilou Danley, and have met with Paddock's other brother, Eric.

While other mass murders have left behind writing pointing to their motivations, such as manifestos, Paddock is far from the only one to leave only silence.

The madman is believed to have removed the hard drive before he committed suicide, sources told the network.

Investigators have also learned that Paddock bought software that erases files from a hard drive, but it's unclear if he used it.
