A suicide bomber set off his explosives inside a mosque in the Afghan capital on Friday, officials said, killing at least 30.
In the Kabul attack, 20 worshippers were killed and 40 others wounded after a suicide bomber detonated his suicide jacket in a mosque Imam-e-Zaman in Dasht-e-Barchi locality, Police District 13 of the capital city, the ministry said in a statement, Xinhua news agency reported.
Almost 60 people were killed when suicide bombers blew themselves up in two separate mosque attacks in Afghanistan on Friday, officials said, capping a bloody week in the war-torn country.
The Afghan government has been losing ground to the Taliban over the last two-and-half-years and now controls only 57 percent of the country, according to the office of United States Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction.
Majority were killed during prayer in mosques or religious ceremonies, according to an United Nations report released last week. But there were no immediate claims of responsibility for Friday's attacks.
Dozens of people have been killed in two separate attacks at Shia mosques in Afghanistan.
